Service user and carer feedback representative

GMW is currently seeking applications from service users and carers to attend an experience feedback workshop with a view to sharing first-hand knowledge of what it is like to recieve care - particularly on our wards - from GMW or care for someone who does.

We are looking to invite 10 service users and carer representatives, preferably with inpatient experience, to the workshop. You will be paid for your time and we will cover any travel expenses. The rate of pay is £10 per hour.

Ideally, you will be a service user with recent experience (within the last 6 months) of GMW's inpatient services, or a carer of someone who has to provide the workshop with an understanding of the experiences, needs and issues important to you.

The workshop will aim to capture those first-hand accounts of what it is like to use GMW's services and be on of our wards. The actions and behaviours of staff can have a massive impact on your experience of our services. We hear many times that the little things count, like using your first name, explaining decisions or just even smiling can help you have a positive experience. Similarly and often, unintentially, the lack of these things, or an unexplained decision can negatively impact on you. We also want to know if we are still demonstrating the values which we set ourselves, that:

  • We are caring and kind
  • We go the extra mile
  • We are welcoming and friendly
  • We respect and value
  • We work together

The workshop aims to get your talking about your experiences - both good and bad, so we can share this with our ward staff to make sure our services are the best they can possibly be.

You can help shape the care recieved by future service users by making recommendations or telling us what we do best.  The workshop will meet just once and will last approximately two hours.

To apply, please get in contact with us to let us know (expression of interest). The closing date for expressions of interest from people who want to be part of the workshop is 5pm on Thursday 23rd July 2015.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss the role further, please contact Caroline Vining, Marketing and Communications Manger - email: Caroline.Vining@gmmh.nhs.uk or Tel: 0161 772 3857. You can submit your expression of interest by calling 0161 772 3857 or emailing: Communications@gmmh.nhs.uk.

Alternatively, you can express your interest in hard copy by writing to:

Caroline Vining, Marketing and Communications Manager, Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Trust Headquarters, Bury New Road, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 3BL

We look forward to hearing from you!
