Home Based Treatment Teams in Wigan
Our Wigan Home Based Treatment Team provides support for adults in Wigan who may need to go to hospital due to significant concerns with their mental health.
Recovery rates are higher when someone is able to receive support and treatment in their own environment so where possible, intensive home or community based therapies and support to help you manage your condition will be provided as a safe and effective alternative to hospital.
If we do feel that a hospital admission is in your best interest, we will arrange and support an admission to inpatient care but will aim to minimise your length of stay by working with you, ward staff, families and carers.
Our team includes a number of mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists, mental health nurses, social workers and support workers and our priority is your safety and recovery.
This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Who is our service for?
Our service is for adults age 18 and over who need intensive community and home-based support and treatment to manage severe and complex mental health problems. This can include short-term crisis intervention as well as longer term home based therapy.
How to access our service
If you have concerns about your mental health, make an appointment to see your GP. He or she will be happy to work with you to help you to manage mild to moderate symptoms of mental ill-health outside of secondary services.
It might be that you do need more specialised support. If so, your GP can make a referral to Wigan Mental Health Urgent Response Team on your behalf. They will assess your mental health needs and refer you onto us if they think we can help.
If you are experiencing significant psychological/emotional distress, you can contact the Wigan Mental Health Crisis Line on our Freephone number 0800 051 3253.
If you are receiving care from one of our other community mental health teams, such as recovery team or early intervention team, and experience a relapse/mental health crisis and please contact them directly. If it is outside of the team's usual working hours and you don't feel you can wait until the next day to speak to someone, you can contact our team as part of your crisis/safety plan.
