Last month, we marked a significant milestone in our journey towards recovery and creativity at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH). As part of the Recovery Pathways open days, we embarked on an exciting venture – the launch of a transformative textiles project inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Sashiko, known for its meditative and reparative qualities. 

The medium secure centre, which is run by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), provides individualised care and treatment for people with enduring mental health needs. A wide range of treatment is available including psychological and other therapeutic interventions and clinical teams work collaboratively with the service user towards their recovery and discharge.  

We have been awarded the National Preceptorship for Nursing Quality Mark for our Preceptorship Programme here at GMMH in April 2024. 

The Moorside unit, a service delivered by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Trust (GMMH), provides care for adults and older adults who require mental health in patient care and is located in Urmston, Trafford.  

This trust will soon be carrying out a survey to understand what you think about your care. This is a national survey and last year we heard the views of nearly 15,000 people. The results are crucial to improving the quality of care and people’s mental health care experiences.  

The Recovery Academy, run by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), is proudly launching their new spring / summer term prospectus on 2 April 2024, during Stress Awareness Month.

On Monday 11th March, Salford Living Well was visited by Labour Party politician, Luciana Berger.

Luciana Berger, former Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree, visited the service as part of her new role leading Labour’s Mental Health Strategy Review.

Wigan Borough Living Well, a new community mental health service which sees Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) join forces with Wigan Primary Care, Wigan and Leigh Community Charity, and Wigan Council, is set to roll out across the Wigan Borough following a successful pilot in Hindley.

Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership are reviewing adult ADHD services across Greater Manchester.

A new Chief Executive has been appointed Chief Executive at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) to lead the organisation at this pivotal time.

On Thursday 15 February, sixty-six people including: digital experts, service users, mental health practitioners and researchers met at CityLabs to explore new avenues for extended reality (XR) in mental healthcare. 

“We know of only one other mental health trust in the country who is providing this type of support, and we are incredibly proud to be paving the way in such an important area.”

The Pathways from Homelessness Symposium will bring together the best practice, policy, clinical and intervention work with homeless people, not just from the UK but Internationally. 

Four of our services will be presenting at the conference, showcasing the service delivery and partnership approaches to meeting the needs of homeless people across Greater Manchester.

Specialist police officers, railway colleagues and mental health professionals have joined forces to improve support for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

On the sixth annual Mental Health Nurses Day, Research & Innovation is celebrating the essential role that mental health nurses play – both in our Trust and in our department!  

Wednesday 21 February 2024 marks the sixth annual Mental Health Nurses’ Day.

Founded by mental health nurses from across the UK, the purpose of the day is to celebrate the work of mental health nurses, and to promote working in mental health as a fantastic career choice for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Measles is a very infectious disease - just a cough or sneeze can spread the virus to other people. It spreads easily and quickly among those who are not vaccinated, especially in nurseries and schools.

Research & Innovation at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is delighted to share the launch event for the CONNECT digital study on Monday 11 March at 12 noon. 

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that junior doctors will take part in strike action from 7am on Saturday 24 February to 11.59pm on Wednesday 28 February 2024.
