GMW take part in NHS Fun Tri

The annual NHS Fun Triathlon took place on Sunday with GMW staff returning triumphant from the event that included hundreds of participants from across the country.

Staff from across our specialist and district services took on the gruelling 400m swim, 25km cycle ride and 5km run, with the heat adding to the difficult conditions in Horwich, Bolton.

Despite the heat, the teams and individuals representing the Trust put in a huge amount of effort and we managed to come away from the event with a couple of top three finishes.

Jane Graney from Bolton CRT came third in the women’s individual race, Gwen Franklin from Bolton South CMHT also came third in the women’s Vets race and her colleague Cath Schofield put in a stellar performance to win the Women’s Super Vets race.

In addition to the individuals taking part, GMW had a number of teams representing services, including the Trafford Early Intervention Team, The Help Yourself To Health Team from Prestwich and The Bentley Bunglers from Bolton.

This year’s Fun Triathlon is only the second time the event has taken place, and with 26 members of GMW staff taking part the event is proving more popular as the competition grows.

The event allowed teams representing GMW to take the Trust’s values and put them into action, with colleagues ‘working together’ and every one of the participants ‘going the extra mile’ in the name of the Trust.

Well done to all who took part.

The full set of results including GMW staff is available on the NHS Triathlon website.
