Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm

The John Denmark Unit(JDU), Mental Health and Deafness Service based at Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMW), has a unique pioneering reputation and is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence.

It is one of three NHS inpatient units in the United Kingdom that specialises in providing mental health services for deaf adults. The service is committed to research and training in all aspects of mental health and deafness.

We are organising a showcase event highlighting the difficulties deaf people experience in accessing mental health services and how we can work alongside local teams to ensure more accessible and timely interventions.  We will also share our commitment to ensuring that the NHS England Accessible information standard is implemented for this client group.

The event will be free and lunch will be provided. Attendance will also count towards CPD and revalidation for Nurses (equivalent to 5CPD points).

This one-day event is for psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists and mental health managers.
