Discover services celebrate after successful year

Discover Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services in Central Lancashire are celebrating the successful delivery of recovery focussed services for a further year by holding events across the region within the community as well as in prisons. The anniversary event will incorporate drop-ins, partnership working showcases and Mindfulness sessions which will take place across a number of locations in Central Lancashire including the newly refurbished building, St Wilfrid’s.

Debra Bretherton, Service Manager for Discover said: “St Wilfrid's is an excellent resource for individuals, families and the community. Service users have created the vision in true partnership, working with commissioners, architects Mellor and builders Carefoot PLC to create an environment fit to deliver a fully integrated recovery model.

“The warm welcoming interior reflects the GMW/Phoenix Futures ethos of recovery oriented provision. I would like to extend my thanks to all involved in the refurbishment of St Wilfrid’s and our other sites across Central which will also benefit from modernisation over the next six months”.

Discover services offer a range of recovery focussed interventions and support within the community and prisons for individuals and their families who wish to recover from the problems associated with addiction. Having successfully delivered the service for three years previously, Discover was awarded a further three year contract in 2013. Since the advent of Discover in 2010, outcomes for service users have steadily improved, demonstrated by increasing routes into employment, maximising overall health and well-being and reducing reoffending.
