Charity

One in four of us will have mental health problems at some point in our life and whilst the NHS does fund many life saving and changing treatments, there is very little left over for the things that can make a big difference.

Many of GMMH’s service users have severe and enduring mental illness and require our support for long periods of time.

What does GMMH need money for? To make a difference.

Whilst we have budgets to provide the best in mental health care for our service users and carers, often the little things can also do so much. A present at Christmas for those who have to spend the festive period in hospital, a break for a carer who spends all day, every day looking after a loved-one with a mental illness or a day experiencing something new can make all the difference to individuals who will spend most of their life living with mental health issues.

You can be that difference and where you can help. You can support us by:

  • Taking part in an event
  • Corporate fundraising
  • Making a donation to our Charitable Funds
  • Leaving a legacy

Making a difference - taking part in an event

From bungee jumping to baths of beans, we often find ourselves taking a risk (either physical or reputation-wise!) for a good cause. If you are taking part in an activity for which you can be sponsored please consider GMMH as a worthy receiver of your sponsorship. You will be able to see for yourself exactly where your money goes and know that you efforts have helped local people in your community, who are struggling to live the kind of life we all take for granted
sometimes.

Making a difference - Your company and GMMH

The support of the business community is vital to GMMH. But we recognise it’s not a one way street. For many years, top UK companies have found it enormously beneficial to work alongside charities and not just because it helps tick the increasingly important ‘corporate responsibility’ box.

Other tangible and measurable benefits include:

  • enhanced customer relations
  • more PR
  • increased corporate reputation
  • better staff relations
  • opportunities for training and teamworking
  • development of a manageable and tax
  • effective charity policy tailored to your business
  • opportunities for corporate entertainment

All these benefits apply whether your business is a multinational company or a small local firm and if you choose to link your business with GMMH we will do all we can to help you achieve them.

Making a difference – making a donation

Sometimes we just want to give something no matter how big or small to a cause that means a lot to us. Often we don’t want fuss or major recognition – just a heartfelt thanks and the knowledge that our quiet efforts have longreaching, resonating effects.

No matter how big or how small, a donation would be gratefully received and we will be open and honest on what we do with your kind contribution.

Making a difference - leaving a legacy to GMMH

We all like to feel that our lives are worthwhile and that we will leave a lasting mark on the world when our time comes. By deciding to leave a legacy to GMMH you can be sure that you have made a difference to service users and patients.

How do I leave something to GMMH?

There are a number of ways you can leave a last gift to the GMMH. You can choose to leave the residue of your estate, in other words the sum that is left after all other bequests and costs have been paid.

You may decide to leave a specific sum of money or bequeath an item, property or shares which can be sold by GMMH to release capital. Or you can arrange lifetime security for a loved one by giving e a life interest in your property which will then pass to GMMH on their death. Your solicitor will advise which option is best for you.
