Low Secure Services
The Lowry Unit provides low secure adult forensic mental health services (AFS) and has two wards: Delaney (15 beds) and Isherwood (15 beds). Both wards are for male service users.
The service is designed to provide intensive rehabilitation for people with enduring mental health needs and who cannot be safely treated in an open inpatient recovery unit. The services operate within the principles of ‘nothing about me without me’, putting the individual at the heart of all aspects of the care we deliver, supporting recovery and choice where this is clinically appropriate.
Our team of expert clinicians and therapists work together. We bring knowledge, clinical expertise, quality service, good governance, operational efficiency and great teamwork to you. Our staff are on hand to offer service users and their family members and carers information about mental health, recovery and the choices and resources available to them. Carers information packs are available, and carers events take place throughout the year.
Facilities
The Lowry Unit has 30 single en-suite bedrooms and a range of communal spaces. All our service users have access to a wide range of activities to support their recovery.
Our facilities include a gym, computer room, and classroom environments to promote learning and education. Support is also available to acquire skills for voluntary or paid employment opportunities.
Service users are encouraged and supported to access facilities within the wider community such as local gyms, college and volunteering opportunities. This supports our service users to build links in the community in preparation for discharge.
We have a dedicated family room for service users’ loved ones, carers or significant others to visit and spend time at the service.
