Who we are

We firmly believe that, as a department, our work is central to creating a better understanding of mental health, better treatments, and better care for our service users.

Whether it is trialling a new medicine, evaluating a new type of therapy, delivering treatments using digital therapies, or making mental health support more accessible, our researchers and innovators work with service users, carers and staff to design and deliver insightful mental health research.

We want to give everyone the opportunity to benefit from advances in mental health care and reduce health inequalities in Greater Manchester.

We are proud to be one of the top NHS Trusts for mental health and dementia research, trusted to deliver large and complex, gold-standard studies across a broad range of conditions and therapies. Working in partnership with leading research organisations in Greater Manchester, our team is brimming with talent and experience of mental health care and research, delivering award-winning and world-first studies that change lives.
