GMMH selected to present at national conference in March 2024
Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) has been selected to present four presentations at a national conference taking place in London next month.
The Pathways from Homelessness Symposium will bring together the best practice, policy, clinical and intervention work with homeless people, not just from the UK but Internationally.
Four of our services will be presenting at the conference, showcasing the service delivery and partnership approaches to meeting the needs of homeless people across Greater Manchester. This includes:
-
The Greater Manchester Housing First programme – one of three nationally and the only one to integrate health within the wider homeless/housing model.
-
Speech and language needs of homeless individuals when considering how we might better support and engage with people to make care and treatment more accessible and support long-term sustained engagement.
-
A presentation around neuropsychology and the (unmet) needs for people in this area.
-
A presentation of the approach taken between our rough sleeper drug and alcohol teams in Bolton/Salford and the Chapman Barker Unit - which is a national inpatient detoxification unit - considering best practice guidelines and trauma informed approaches to support people to access T4 services as part of their recovery journey.
Adam Clayton, Service Manager for GMMH Homeless Services, Chapman Barker Unit (CBU), John Denmark Unit (JDU) and Manchester Dual Diagnosis team, said:
“To have four presentations accepted at one national conference is a testament to the great work taking place within these services. Well done to the teams involved, this is an amazing achievement!”
The conference is a two-day event and will take place from Wednesday 13 to Thursday 14 March 2024 at St Mary’s London, with regional networking hubs in Leeds, Birmingham, and Manchester.
