Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Act 2018
People who have been in hospital tell us it can be a frightening time and they feel lots of emotions and reactions.
Our wards aim to be a safe and calming space which supports your recovery. This is something we will all work towards as we can all contribute to a positive and safe ward.
Our teams are trained and skilled in helping you with your mental health and physical wellbeing, and will always support and be respectful of your human rights.
Part of our role is to ensure that we are open and honest with you about how care might be provided, especially if there is a concern that you might hurt yourself or others.
The use of force does sometimes happen, but there are lots of alternatives that we will always try first and any use of force will always be the last resort.
