Following International Nurses Day, we held our first GMMH Nursing Awards on Monday 18 May 2026. The event provided an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions of nurses across our Trust and the impact they make on service users, families, colleagues and the wider community.

We are proud to share that two members of our catering team impressed the judges at a national cooking competition, earning a silver medal and an award for the best dish of the day.

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) have today announced the appointment of Chris Oliver as our new Chief Executive Officer.

A digital mental health tracking app which is changing care for people with psychosis has been recognised for its outstanding impact at The University of Manchester’s (UoM) Making a Difference Awards 2026. The app was built on over a decade of clinical trials at GMMH and other NHS Trusts.

A pioneering Greater Manchester mental health programme has been named a regional champion at the first ever NHS Excellence Awards, recognising outstanding work to reduce out of area mental health placements and keep people closer to home.

This week (11 – 17 May 2026) is Mental Health Awareness Week. This year’s theme, ‘action’, focuses on taking action to support good mental health – for yourself, for someone else, for all of us.

This week (4-10 May) marks Deaf Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is ‘Right to understand - Together, we break barriers’.
