Benchmark

Benchmark offers short woodwork courses and furniture making opportunities at its base: Ground Floor, Building 8, Wilsons Park, Monsall Road, Newton Heath, M40 8WN.  It is easily accessible by public transport and usually attracts citywide referrals.

Being part of Benchmark allows you to develop your skills in a fully equipped furniture making workshop within a supported environment. There is a programme of time-limited courses using hand tools and training in the use of woodwork machinery.  Each course, offers goal setting, regular reviews, an opportunity for Occupational Therapy if the need is identified and a move on plan following your time with us. We can also work with you to connect you with other community opportunities to support your continued wellbeing. 

During your time at Benchmark you may also gain manufacturing experience by working on commissions for projects such as garden furniture, upcycling and other items of furniture and wooden products. All training programmes encourage personal reflection based on individual goals such as:

• Increasing independence
• Having a sense of achievement and progress through learning and training
• Feeling comfortable in a group setting
• Developing work-related skills
• Feeling useful
