Living with Dementia workshops in Bolton, Manchester, Oldham

emPoWereD conversations workshops in Bolton, Manchester, Oldham

A series of workshops in Bolton, Manchester and Oldham are being held for family members caring for those with dementia.

Entitled emPoWereD conversations, the workshops have been developed by Six Degrees Social Enterprise in partnership with the Institute of Dementia at the University of Salford.

The workshops will cover:

  • What it feels like to talk to someone with dementia
  • What gets in the way of having a good conversation?
  • Simple to use tips to start conversations
  • What gets in the way of good listening?
  • What's said without words?
  • What have we learnt and should we change?

The approach is more than just tips and tricks; it looks at how our emotions, thinking and attitudes can transform the quality and enjoyment of communicating with people with dementia.

The Bolton events will take place at Earthlings, 221 Darwen Road, Bolton, BL7 9BS and will occur as follows:

·         Monday 3 April 2017 - 10.30am to 12.30pm

·         Monday 10 April 2017 - 10.30am to 12.30pm

·         Monday 24 April 2017 - 10.30am to 12.30pm

The Manchester events will take place at Gaddum House, 6 Great Jackson Street, Hulme, Manchester, M15 4AX as follows:

·         Thursday 20 April 2017 - 1pm to 3pm

·         Thursday 27 April 2017 - 1pm to 3pm

·         Thursday 4 May 2017 - 1pm to 3pm

The Oldham events will take place at Castleton Community Centre, Manchester Road, Castleton, OL11 3AF as follows:

·         Thursday 30 March 2017 - 1pm to 3pm

·         Thursday 6 April 2017 - 1pm to 3pm

·         Thursday 13 April 2017 - 1pm to 3pm
