Lead Practitioners

A Liaison and Diversion Lead Practitioner (L&D) is an essential role, providing support to service users and clinical leadership to colleagues. We provide consultation, advice and support to the wider team whilst also delivering care within a variety of environments. Setting a great leadership example to those around, we embrace the core values of GMMH and the L&D team.

Our principles recognise the need to:

• Promote safe practice

• Value the aims of service users

• Work in partnership and offer meaningful choices

• Show optimism about meaningful change

• Value social inclusion

As an L&D Lead Practitioner, you have the opportunity to take a lead role in the development of different pathways and act as a resource to provide clinical advice, training, guidance and consultation to other members of the team and partner agencies. We also help to contribute to improving the understanding of L&D services across all settings, promoting the work of our staff and spreading awareness of our services.

The Lead Practitioners work within safeguarding frameworks to ensure high quality standards of care. Working with different teams, such as Police or Prison Services, our Lead Practitioners support service users throughout the court system whilst directly improving the understanding of L&D services. Clinically, we implement case load supervision and monitor the standards of service user care.

We undertake the role of a Practitioner to help maintain our direct assessment and care skills. Furthermore, we develop and implement integrated care pathways, including appropriate service user assessments, referrals and models of care.
