Councillor ‘proud’ of North View development
Our new inpatient unit in North Manchester has won high praise from a leading Manchester City Councillor during a visit to see the facilities this week.
Councillor Thomas Robinson, Executive Member for Healthy Manchester and Adult Social Care, was among a group of city councillors, who visited for a project update and fact-finding tour.
The North View project team, including Trust Project Director Marc Reed and Associate Director of Operations, Deborah Goodman, were joined by our Chief Executive, Karen Howell OBE, and Chief People Officer, Claus Madsen to discuss progress as work continues apace toward the operational ‘go-live’ date which is set for 18 November.
Councillor Robinson said:
"We really are so proud to see years of such hard work starting to come to fruition. New and modern facilities like North View are all designed to help with giving dignity, care and independence for those who need them.
“They are also part of wider plan including the rebuild of North Manchester General Hospital that will also be key in transforming health outcomes for some of our most vulnerable residents, as well as providing regeneration opportunities and job creation for our local communities.”
Councillor Robinson was joined by fellow councillors Joanne Green, Chair of the Health Scrutiny Committee and Higher Blackley ward Councillor Olusegun Ogunbambo, during the visit. Also present were Place Based Lead (Manchester) and North Manchester Strategy SRO with NHS GM, Tom Hinchliffe, North Manchester Strategy Lead and Head of PMO MLCO Sarah Griffiths, and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Director of Strategy Sophie Hargreaves.
The group spent a morning speaking to the project team and looking round the new purpose-built facilities which will replace Park House, providing 150 single bedrooms over nine single sex wards, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), six Adults of Working Age wards, one Older Adults ward and rehabilitation ward.
