Dementia tea party features on BBC Radio

To mark Dementia Awareness Week, a Vintage Tea Room event took place at Royal Bolton Hospital on Tuesday 16 May and a report about it featured on BBC Radio Manchester’s Breakfast Show.

Doctors and nurses at the hospital dressed up in 1950s outfits and transformed the dementia ward into Bolton Vintage Tea Room to throw a tea party for service users and carers. People living with Dementia and their friends and family enjoyed an afternoon of cake and music on the ward.

BBC radio presenters Alison Butterworth and Phil Trow aired a report about the event on Wednesday 17 May and heard the views of staff, service users and carers as they highlighted how music and settings can help improve the memories of people suffering with Dementia.
