GMMH becomes the first mental health NHS Foundation trust to install CPR training technology

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) has become the first mental health NHS foundation trust to install state of the art CPR training technology.

The technology, called Brayden Online, combines a traditional mannequin with an iOS application which uses a cloud server, allowing staff to undertake CPR training at a time, date and location that is flexible for them.

Staff are able to log in to the system with their email address, and complete a CPR training session. They are then able to take a test, utilising the mannequin to prove their CPR standards.

The system, which was developed with help from CPR experts around the world, offers consistent and reliable evaluation, and provides real time feedback on the quality of CPR delivery, without having to attend a face-to-face training Basic Life Support (BLS) session with an instructor.

This means that more staff can complete high quality training at a time that’s convenient to them.

Toni Murch, Senior Resuscitation Officer at GMMH said:

“We are delighted to be the first ever mental health NHS foundation trust to install Brayden CPR technology.

“This new equipment will allow our staff to undertake Basic Life Support training at a time and location that’s convenient to them. High quality chest compressions have been proven to be of paramount importance in saving lives and this equipment will ensure the quality of CPR is consistent across the trust.”

The first unit was installed at GMMH’s Trust Headquarters, The Curve, in Prestwich, Manchester; with a further 10 units being installed at sites across the Trust’s footprint by the end of October 2022.

A recent launch event allowed staff to ask any questions and try out the equipment themselves for the first time.
