Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Devolution
Greater Manchester (GM) is taking control of £6 billion of public funding for health and social care from April 2016. It will involve the transfer of certain powers and responsibilities from national government to all 37 NHS and local authorities in GM. Putting power into the hands of local decision-makers means they can better meet the needs of the people who live and work in this region.The challenge is big; the money available for our public services is reducing every year. But the opportunity is also huge and our goal is to see the greatest and fastest improvement to the health, wealth and wellbeing of the 2.8 million people in the towns and cities of Greater Manchester.
To help us achieve this goal we have produced a five-year vision for better health and social care in Greater Manchester which has been shaped by each of the ten borough plans.
