You’re invited to the Age Friendly Bench Launch Event in Gorton!
This event marks the launch of 10 new Age Friendly benches which have been funding by buzz Manchester Health & Wellbeing Service (GMMH NHS Foundation Trust) & Arcon Housing.
The location of the benches have been selected by local older people, and this event will celebrate the two years of development work which buzz Manchester have been leading on to source funding for and steer a collaborative approach to the design and installation of the new benches.
These benches aim to create a more accessible route around the Gorton district, enabling older residents and others with mobility barriers to travel comfortably and connect to community spaces, shops and health centres independently. Benches also provide a space where social connections can form between individuals taking a seat, and we hope that these new benches can become a real asset to the neighbourhood.
Join us for performances, activities and free food and drink throughout the walk including poetry readings, art showcase, community garden tour and much more!
